About us

Gilpip Homes is a collaborative custom builder working with future home owners and property developers across the Mornington Peninsula, Bayside and beyond.

Our story

Over three decades ago, brothers Rob and Bill Gillies founded Gilpip Homes. Shortly after the business was established, their cousin Peter Hill joined the company, and together the three became the driving force behind the Gilpip Homes name for decades to come.

As directors, each brought their own strengths to the business. Rob and Bill led the construction side, drawing on their carpentry and building knowledge to oversee projects on site, while Peter managed the day-to-day office operations. Built on hard work, genuine relationships and taking pride in doing things properly, Gilpip Homes earned a reputation for delivering quality homes across the Mornington Peninsula. This reputation has led to repeat work, referrals and the long-standing loyalty of our team.

Following the retirement of the founding directors in 2020, long-term team member David took ownership of the business. Having been part of Gilpip Homes since 2006 and working alongside the family for many years, David remains committed to preserving the company’s legacy while guiding it into its next chapter.

Today, Gilpip Homes continues to evolve with modern systems, fresh ideas and a new generation of leadership, while staying true to its foundations: quality craftsmanship, trusted relationships, customer service and care for every client and every home.

The team

Meet the people behind the projects.

David Carter

Managing Director

David joined Gilpip Homes in 2006 as part of the Pre-Construction team and has since developed an extensive understanding of every stage of the home building process. His experience spans concept design, pricing, contracts, specifications and project coordination, with close involvement from initial consultation through to completion.

In 2010, David progressed to Pre-Construction Manager before being appointed Operations Manager in 2014. In this role, he oversaw internal operations, managed staff, refined office procedures and implemented systems that strengthened the business while maintaining Gilpip Homes’ reputation for integrity and quality.

Today, David continues to guide Gilpip Homes with a focus on customer service, open communication, attention to detail, competitive pricing and quality craftsmanship. Outside of work, he enjoys coaching his son’s basketball and football teams, playing basketball, following the NBA and AFL, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
